great mattress
This is a fantastic mattress. We've used one for 3 years with our oldest and now that a sibling is on the way we'll be buying a new one for that child too. (we'd use the original but Oldest is still loving the toddler bed and doesn't want to move out of it). The mattress fits very snuggly and has held up to two moves lots of middle of the night changes and a wide variety of "ick" :o) The only sign of wear after three years is that the corners look a little mashed on top from all the sheet changes. The only cavet is that you have to buy a good quality sheet (like Carters) because the mattress is a little thicker than most. I tore through two cheaper brand sheets cuz they weren't made to fit a mattress this thick.

Skip the "pack'n'play" and get the POD
I originally got online to search for a baby tent to use at the beach and then my eye fell on the pea pod travel bed. I got it in the mail just in time for a weekend music festival where it more than proved its worth. We used it in the pop-up camper for bedtime outside in the shade during naps and even took it down for the baby to lay/play in while we listened to music. Very light and portable I found it easy to fold and although I bought it for my 3month old baby my three year old found it novel and took a couple naps in it himself. Since then we've taken it to friends houses so we can put the baby to bed there and she plays in it happily in the kitchen floor while I cook.... it's soooo much nicer/lighter/more space efficient to haul along than a pack and play. Not made exactly for beach cover but it keeps her out of the sand and we drape a towel over or place the pod under the umbrella. Anyway I am really happy with the functionability and travel-friendliness of this item.

Wonderful idea! But my cots are falling apart.
I ordered these cots for my two 3-year old twins. The are absolutely fantastic they setup in less than a minute and are very easy to move around/collapse.
I ran into an issue which is why I had to give these 3 stars. I know it's not random since it's happened twice. There is a small plastic knob with a metal screw that holds the cot fabric to the frame. There are six of these per cot. Two of these have broken on me so far and there is no way to fix them. I was able to get some hardware from a home improvement store to fix the cot but I haven't had the cots but a month before they started breaking.
I contacted Regalo (the company that creates these costs) by email and never received a response.
Other than that these are great!
***Update I contacted Regalo for the third time and they finally sent me the replacement parts I needed.
***Another update These knobs continue to break off. Good thing Regalo sent me six of them I'm quickly using them up!

Life saver!!!
My daughter refused to sleep in her pack'n'play when we traveled which is often. Purchased this mattress after considering all options including buying a second crib for my husband's place while he's on temporary assignment. Read reviews on other sites to find that portable crib mattress are same size as most playpens. Mattress fits in playpen nearly perfect did roll up a blanket to tuck between the small gap on one side. My daughter slept great. What a relief... no having to break the co-sleeping when we return home!

~*~*~Not too soft Not too hard Comfortable and Safe~*~*~
When my husband and I started looking for crib mattresses while I was pregnant with our twins we had NO idea what to look for. Thankfully like always I started doing searches on Amazon to read reviews and that is where I learned about not having a mattress that was too soft. After much searching & reading we picked out 3 we liked best one cheaper than this one considerably more expensive & this one.
The cheaper mattress was TOO soft & did not have many springs. My husband thought it seemed like a fine mattress to buy UNTIL I was easily able to take my hand and squeeze the sides of the mattress together top touching bottom. Then I explained to him that once a baby is old enough to stand their weight would crush the mattress just like I did and that is unsafe. Plus babies are supposed to sleep on a firm surface not soft. After my demonstration my husband understood.
Next we did the same test with this mattress. You could not easily squeeze the sides of the mattress together even my husband tried. It had a lot more springs than the cheaper one it was firm but also comfortable. We also liked that it is basically water proof. And the plastic does not make any noise nor is it loose at all.
We stopped our search there and purchased 2 of these. My girls are almost 1 year and their beds show no signs of wear no indentations nothing wrong at all. My girls even hold onto the sides of their crib and jump and the mattress does not sink at all even when they jump at the very edge. My girls sleep all night in these so they must be comfortable.
I don't think you need to spend an arm and a leg in order to get a safe & comfortable mattress. Don't get one so cheap that it is flimsy doesn't have many springs that you can easily squeeze the sides together or that the plastic covering is loose. This one is perfect.
It also fits perfectly snug in my girls cribs and every sheet we've used fits perfectly.
